Joshua 4:10 (KJV) “For the priests which bare the ark stood in the midst of Jordan until everything was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.”
There is an appointed time for everything under the sun. When God gives us an assignment, we must remain in place until we complete that assignment. It is similar to when I was a member of the U.S. Army. When we were assigned to guard duty, the one thing we had to remember was, “I will not leave my post until properly relieved.“
The drill sergeants drilled this into us as new recruits and upon arriving at our new duty stations. Why? Because if we ever left our guard posts, we left the entire unit exposed and vulnerable to an attack from enemies. Can you see where I am going with this?
The moment we move before receiving the command, we risk leaving everyone in our charge susceptible to attacks from the enemy. God plants us in certain positions for specific reasons. Some of which may be unknown to us at the time; however, once we complete our assignment, we will have a better understanding of the purpose of our assignment.
Remember, there is an appointed time for everything. There is also a reason for everything as well. Staying in place until given the command by our Commander in Chief to move will result in the saving of lives both spiritually, and sometimes physically. Faith and obedience in the leadership and Lordship of the Christ of God will serve a greater purpose than it may seem at the present moment. His orders are never without cause. Trust Him with all of your heart and lean not to your own understanding (Prov. 3:5,6).
