The Majesty Of The Lord God

Deuteronomy 5:5 (KJV) “(I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to show you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire and went not up into the mount;) saying…”

Once upon a time, the people of the Lord God needed a physical mediator to stand between the people and God because of the awesome demonstration of the Lord God’s glorious majesty when He would speak to them. Then, Jesus came on the scene and His finished work on the Cross changed this method of interaction completely and forever (Heb. 3:1-3; 4:14-16; 8:1-6; 10:19-22). We no longer need someone to stand in our place because Jesus has done this once and for all.

Does this mean that we no longer need other believers to intercede on our behalf? No. In the Scriptures, we are instructed to “pray for one another” and to “bear the infirmities of the weak” (Jam. 5:16; Rom. 15:1). However, we are also taught that “the Spirit Itself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered” and that “He (Jesus) ever live the to make intercession for them (us)” (Rom. 8:26; Heb. 7:25).

What does this mean for the believer? It means that because of the Lord God through Christ, we have access to the Father everyday…all day. Even when we cannot muster up the words to say, both the Spirit of the Lord God and Jesus, our High Priest, is readily available to step in and speak on our behalf. In essence, we are covered.

The next time you are feeling down and out…think on these things!
