God, Our Provider

Deuteronomy 8:3 (KJV) And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.

Our dependency should be on God alone. All sufficiency comes from His hand. Within Him, there is no lack, and every provision is made. When we turn to a dependency upon others and in things, we learn quite quickly that we will always come up short. Why? Because they, too, find their source in God alone. Once their resources have run low, they, too, must return to Him for replenishment (whether they acknowledge this or not). Their hearts also may turn against us for various reasons. In these moments, our dependency upon them will cause our need to go unmet. However, such is not the case with our Heavenly Father. Every good and perfect gift comes from His hand (Jam. 1:17), and He is more than willing to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus, the Living Word (Phil. 4:19; Jn. 1:1-3).
