What Does God Say About Us?

2 Samuel 6:21 (KJV) And David said unto Michal, It was before the Lord, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel: therefore will I play before the Lord.

One of the most powerful weapons of warfare is the knowledge of the reason for which we were created and our God-ordained purpose. When we know who we are and why we were created, we can walk each day in that knowledge with full confidence in the One Who created and ordained us. Possessing this knowledge also gives us the strength of heart when we are faced with others who seek to diminish our roles within God’s Kingdom. Oftentimes, when others come against us, it is because they 1) do not understand our purpose for being, 2) do not understand their own purpose for being, and 3) they are under the influence of a power greater than they are themselves.

Allowing others to define our identities can cause us to become discouraged and refrain from becoming the person God has created us to become.

Although the individuals cannot always identify us themselves, the spiritual force that is influencing them can identify who we are. The sole purpose of the attacks is to make us begin to doubt ourselves and our identities. In so doing, we would be doubting the Word of the Lord that had been decreed over our lives. In these moments, we must remember that the Lord’s Word has been forever established in the heavens (Ps. 119:89). This includes what He has declared about us.

Once we truly understand and embrace the truths of God’s Word about us and life’s purpose, there is nothing that anyone can say about us that will shake us to the point of doubting the identity that God has given us (Ps. 119:160). Why? Because the opinions of others do not matter as much as the Word God has spoken concerning us.
