There Is Pain In The Air: A Kingdom Online Commentary

Joshua 10:6 (KJV) And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.

Being grafted into the community of God means more than just becoming family. It also means that we become one and are identified with one another as we continue to draw closer to God. We become the personification of what the Apostle Paul meant when he said we are the “body of Christ” (1 Cor. 12:12-27). In essence, I should hurt when you are hurting. I should rejoice when you are rejoicing. The same should be the case when I am hurting and when I am rejoicing. We should be so interconnected that we become sensitive to the needs of the other.

God still intends for us to be our “brother’s keeper” within the contemporary culture. He has not changed His mind about this relational principle.

What is the commonality that creates the bond between us? It is the love of Christ Jesus that abides within. It causes us to look beyond our borders and areas of comfort to meet the need of our brothers and sisters in need. The pure love of Christ constrains us to do so (2 Cor. 5:14).

If there has been something causing a feeling of disconnection, we must return to the altar and cast ourselves upon it. Allow the Holy Spirit to soften our hearts and renew the bond of love within. We hold the key to unlock someone’s shackles and free them the binding forces of the enemy.
