Our Greatest Treasure

1 Kings 8:65 (KJV) And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt, before the Lord our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.

What are you willing to sacrifice to have an opportunity to stake your claim in your inheritance as a son and daughter of God? Upon reading this Scripture, that was the very first thought that entered my mind. In the verse, the author proclaims that He’s not just the author’s God or Israel’s God, but that He is “the Lord our God” (1 Kgs. 8:65). The significance lies in the fact that we can stake a claim on God as “ours” in a similar fashion to the way He claims us as His own (Deut. 7:6-9).

“The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup…” (Ps. 16:5).

The inheritance that we gain is the very God of the entire creation (Ps. 16:5). He is our greatest treasure, which is why the Scriptures continuously admonish us to seek Him with our whole heart, to seek His Kingdom and His righteousness, to seek…seek…seek…and seek some more (Ps. 27:8; 63:1; 69:32; Amo. 5:4; Zeph. 2:3; Mt. 6:33; 7:7). The value of what we find when we find in Him is “unsearchable…and past finding out” for who can we compare to our great God (Isa. 40:18,25; Rom. 11:33)?

What are you willing to exchange for this opportunity of a lifetime? To gain access to the most valuable Gift and Treasure anyone will ever possess as long as they are alive within this world? What is it worth to you?
